Registration for the Midsouth Fall Conference closes when we reach 200 registrants or on September 1st, whichever comes first. To register for the conference and select your breakout sessions, please visit the conference website—the registration form will appear after registration opens at 2:00 p.m. Central/3:00 p.m. Eastern May 18, 2019.

Registration is online only. Payment of fees must be made online through PayPal using a credit card or a PayPal account. There are no refunds for the conference except in the case of emergency (and only then if a waiting list exists and it is before September 1st). (SCBWI Midsouth will keep a $50 handling fee for all refunds of this kind.) There are no refunds for intensives, critiques, or meals. Tickets are not transferable. To be included on a waiting list that ends September 1st, contact Mary Uhles at and put WAITING LIST (in all caps) in the memo line of your email. Please note that because of scheduling logistics, no changes can be made after September 1st. Thank you for understanding.

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) is dedicated to providing a safe and harassment-free environment for all conference attendees and has a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment, intimidation, and discrimination. To that end, we will ask you to read and acknowledge this policy as part of the registration process. For more details on this policy, including procedures in place to report harassment, please click here.

By registering for this conference, you acknowledge that audio taping, videotaping, and/or transmitting or aiding in any of the foregoing of any part of the conference is prohibited. Additionally, the material in all handouts and presentations is copyrighted and may not be reprinted, blogged, written, orally transmitted, and/or reproduced without written permission of the copyright holder only. Personal impressions, a quote that is cited, and/or general overviews are acceptable. However, it would be a breach of copyright law to give detailed reports of a presenter’s material. Thank you in advance for taking this policy into account. Your professionalism is greatly appreciated.

We all walk into these conferences with a sense of expectation. While it would be a dream for an editor or agent to look at us across the table or over a drink and ask to represent or publish your manuscript, this is an extremely RARE occurrence. More likely, they will give feedback (if you paid for a critique), ask what you’re working on (expecting an elevator pitch), and perhaps…PERHAPS…ask you to submit to them after the conference. In ANY case, we are all expected to act in a professional manner. Please treat our faculty as co-workers/professional peers deserving of respect. Even if you do not agree with specific feedback or, universe forbid, you have a negative experience, you are expected to be civil. Raised voices, rude or unkind words, or behavior otherwise deemed inappropriate or abusive will not be tolerated. If you are asked to leave your critique or the conference, refunds will not be issued. Remember, too, when dealing with Midsouth committee members and officers that this conference is run entirely by people who volunteer their time!

While we make every attempt to accommodate food sensitivities, please understand that we cannot ensure every participant’s dietary preferences and food sensitivities for every meal. If you have serious allergies/sensitivities or strict food preferences, please bring supplementary food with you. Thank you for understanding.
