Pricing and Policies

If an attendee registers, but does not submit the required Covid information (vaccination proof by March 5, OR negative PCR result within 3 days of the conference), said attendee will be unable to attend the conference and no refunds will be given.

Registration for the Midsouth Conference closes when we reach 150 registrants or on March 5th, whichever comes first. To register for the conference and select your breakout sessions, please visit the conference website – the registration form will appear after registration opens at 2:00 p.m. Central/3:00 p.m. Eastern November 20, 2021.

Registration is online only. Payment of fees must be made online through PayPal using a credit card or a PayPal account. There are no refunds for the conference except in the case of emergency (and only then if a waiting list exists and it is before March 1st). (SCBWI Midsouth will keep a $50 handling fee for all refunds of this kind.) There are no refunds for intensives, critiques, or meals. Tickets are not transferable. To be included on a waiting list that ends March 5th, 2022, contact Mary Uhles at and put WAITING LIST (in all caps) in the memo line of your email.

Please note that because of scheduling logistics, no changes can be made after March 5th. Thank you for understanding.

If an attendee registers, but does not submit the required Covid information (vaccination proof by March 5, OR negative PCR result within 3 days of the conference), said attendee will be unable to attend the conference and no refunds will be given.

In order to create an environment in which faculty and attendees feel they may gather safely, and due to guidelines from headquarters regarding regional in-person events, SCBWI Midsouth’s large, in-person events in 2022 will require proof of completed vaccination (completed by March 5, 2022), OR proof of negative PCR test (within THREE days of the event, and submitted ahead of time). At the time of the conference, we reserve the right to require masks as well as the above requirements.

By attending this conference, you assume all risks regarding potential exposure to COVID-19, and agree to follow the safety guidelines established by the conference committee. SCBWI is not responsible for health outcomes.

For the Spring Conference, attendees will send proof of vaccination to no later than March 5, 2022. We will send reminders on November and December 30, 2021, January 5, and February 5, 2022. Send negative test results to between March 22-24, AND BRING RESULT WITH YOU, just in case.

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) is dedicated to providing a safe and harassment-free environment for all conference attendees and has a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment, intimidation, and discrimination. To that end, we will ask you to read and acknowledge this policy as part of the registration process. For more details on this policy, including procedures in place to report harassment, please click here.

By registering for this conference, you acknowledge that audio taping, videotaping, and/or transmitting or aiding in any of the foregoing of any part of the conference is prohibited. Additionally, the material in all handouts and presentations is copyrighted and may not be reprinted, blogged, written, orally transmitted, and/or reproduced without written permission of the copyright holder only. Personal impressions, a quote that is cited, and/or general overviews are acceptable. However, it would be a breach of copyright law to give detailed reports of a presenter’s material. Thank you in advance for taking this policy into account. Your professionalism is greatly appreciated.

Whether you are dealing with faculty, other attendees, or conference volunteers, raised voices, rude or unkind words, or behavior otherwise deemed inappropriate or abusive will not be tolerated. If you are asked to leave the conference, refunds will not be issued. Remember, too, when dealing with Midsouth committee members and officers that this conference is run entirely by people who volunteer their time!

While we make every attempt to accommodate food sensitivities, please understand that we cannot ensure every participant’s dietary preferences and food sensitivities for every meal. If you have serious allergies/sensitivities or strict food preferences, please bring supplementary food with you. Thank you for understanding.
