Introducing the first ever SCBWI Midsouth Critique Seminar Series!

For SCBWI members only: an online event aimed at providing professional critiques alongside seminars about how to put those critiques to best use!

This seminar series goes beyond a paid critique experience mirroring that of our Fall Conference. We want to give our members an immediate opportunity to see growth!

Step 1:

Submit a ten-page writing sample or illustration portfolio for critique from a professional, published author or illustrator (PAL).

Submission deadline is Sept. 30, 2020. Written critiques will be returned to writers and illustrators no later than November 1, 2020. (Critiquers chosen for you.)

Step 2: During the months of November and December, take part in any (or ALL!) of our four online seminars, aimed at unpacking how to convert critique into action! Learn how to get the most out of a critique to make your work shine!

• Using Critiques to Revise Your Beginning…or perhaps your whole novel!

• Using Critiques to Revise Your Picture Book

• Using Critiques to Revise and Update Your Illustration Portfolio

“What does THAT mean??” An interactive online panel of authors and illustrators discuss specific critique notes and help decode what industry professionals mean when comments can seem vague or mysterious.

Step 3: Use the author/illustrator critique to revise, then resubmit your work for a written critique by an acquiring agent, editor, or art director! Submission deadline is January 5, 2021. (Critiquers chosen for you.)
